About Us
". . . Empowering women to create their own fashion accessories with an eye to practicality."
Owner Eileen Santos has been designing and sewing since childhood. After making her own paper dolls with unique paper fashions, she began sewing her own clothes at age nine. Throughout high school and college, Eileen designed and sewed most of her wardrobe. After a business career, the old sewing bug took hold again. Eileen received Master Seamstress certification from the University of Rhode Island, then opened Sweet Inspiration Sewing School in 1990 "to spread the love of sewing" throughout Newport County and Rhode Island.
The frustration to find the perfect handbag led Eileen to work on designing her own. She wanted to make her life easier and ultimately the lives of other women also. The three pronged approach was:
- The practicality of keeping all the belongings together so that nothing was left behind in switching out purses quickly,
- The ability to make a fashion statement to match mood, style, color choice, outfit of the moment, and season,
- The safety of an easy closure to keep everything securely inside whether being tossed onto the passenger seat or hidden from prying eyes.
After a year of prototyping, the fine-tuned Snappy Handbag was born!
Eileen would like to thank her daughters for using the prototypes, giving their feedback on how easy and fun the bags were, and introducing their friends and co-workers to the new and exciting Snappy Handbag concept!
